MEET OUR FOUNDER ....... ROBERT (BOB) KING

If Bob’s life could be described with a single word, it would be “leadership.” As far back as high school, in which he served in student government, and his military service, Bob has been a leader. During officer training with the U.S. Army, Bob finished first in the field exercises and second overall in his class. For his leadership during his tour of duty, he received a special letter of commendation. In his subsequent professional life, Bob has held numerous leadership roles, not the least of which has been growing his own successful corporation. He has now devoted himself to the development of effective, responsible leaders because, in his words:

“I have seen the great human and economic toll of irresponsible or ineffective leadership - either in leading one’s own life or in leading a team of any size or complexity. The greatest need the world has today is for effective, responsible leadership.”

In 1971, Bob founded Robert King and Associates, Inc. (RKAI), a management consulting and training firm. Bob is recognized as one of the most creative minds in the profession. His original materials and programs are tailored for today’s fast paced, competitive, talent-scarce, and time-pressured environment. Clients universally praise his customized programs.

Bob has conducted training programs both domestically and internationally.

In addition to being president of RAKI, Bob is a member of the board of directors of several organizations and a featured speaker at regional, national, and international meetings and conventions. He became a member, by invitation, of the prestigious International Platform Association.

Bob brings a wealth of personal and professional experience to his assignments. One reason for this is that he has successfully “reinvented” himself four times as:

A successful deep space telecommunications development engineer.
An upper-level executive of a high-tech organization.
A successful entrepreneur: He formed his own company and grew it into an award winning executivedevelopment and management consultation practice.
An author: He has written four books on organizational and personal development and leadership.

Highlights of Bob’s 30 plus years of managerial and executive experience are:

As Director of Project Management and Administration for a state-of-the-art computer firm, he managed all engineering, software, financial, and marketing aspects of more than 30 multi-million-dollar projects.
As a member of a Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s “tiger-team,” he helped identify and solve problems associated with the Mariner III space failure, and then helped launch the very successful Mariner IV Mars space probe.
On special assignment to Europe with the National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA), he provided technical assistance and liaison to European space agency.
He developed the conceptual design for what is now the Ticketron™ automated ticketing service.
As chief inventor/designer, he developed a digital state-of-the-art audio-animatronics control system for Walt Disney. That system was used to generate the ever-popular, “The Country Bear Jamboree” attraction.

For more than 25 years, Bob delivered training programs as a franchise holder with one of the world’s oldest and best-known commercial training organizations. Some of the numerous awards he won while he was associated with that organization are:

He was a charter member of its President’s Club.
For three years running, his franchise led the organization in the number of enrollments per sales representative.
His franchise won the coveted award for having the most graduates per class in North America.

Bob started selling door-to-door when he was 15 and worked his way through college. He graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Engineering Physics degree. He has also completed post-graduate training at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and the University of Southern California (USC).
